From “I Do” to Family of Five: A Full-Circle Photography Moment

One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is getting to watch families grow over the years. I recently had the absolute pleasure of reconnecting with Amanda and Jimmy for a family session on their beautiful property—years after capturing their wedding day and their first family portraits when their youngest was just a baby.

Their beautiful, cozy home and yard provided the perfect backdrop, with golden light filtering through the gorgeous cypress and live oaks.

It was such a gift to catch up with this wonderful family and see the beautiful life they’ve built together. It was a sitting filled with laughter and I enjoyed every second of it! Until next time!

This portrait session was an incredibly special one —I had the joy of photographing my own daughter, Sophie, for her graduation portraits. As an environmental science major and a second-generation FSU graduate, Sophie’s journey is one that fills our family with pride.

I’ve looked forward to taking Sophie’s graduation portraits since she began her education at FSU. These photos are deeply meaningful to me. I know she will treasure them in the years to come. What a huge accomplishment! I am so proud of her.

Celebrating Denise’s Graduation – Off to Vet School!

I had the honor of capturing Denise’s FSU graduation portraits on a beautiful fall day. Denise is a biology major with her sights set on a future in veterinary medicine.

We explored some of FSU’s most iconic spots, from Westcott Fountain and Ruby Diamond Auditorium, to Langford Green, making sure to highlight Denise’s vibrant personality and her excitement for what’s ahead. She brought along her mom, sister, and her sweet dog, so we made sure to capture some family photos on FSU’s beautiful campus.

It’s always a joy to reconnect with clients, and my recent family portrait session with the Sherlock family was no exception. Several years have passed since their last session with Kris Kimel Photography, and this time we had the pleasure of capturing their family right in their own beautiful yard in Tallahassee.

The Sherlocks’ yard provided the perfect backdrop for this special occasion. With its lush greenery, tall pines, cheerful hydrangeas and zinnias, and natural light filtering through, it offered the perfect setting for a special family portrait.

Graduation is a momentous occasion, marking years of hard work, dedication, and growth. I love capturing these milestones, and this summer, I had the pleasure of photographing Jessica, a 2024 Florida State University graduate. As a photographer in Florida, I have the privilege of capturing special moments for families in breathtaking locations. One of my recent sessions took place at the beautiful Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida, where I spent an unforgettable day photographing the Murray-McClelland family.

The photo session was a great way to cap off a lovely long weekend at the resort, where three generations had gathered for golf, beach time, and togetherness.

Senior year is such an exciting time!

If you are planning to honor your senior with an ad in the yearbook, now is the time to schedule a Senior Session. Yearbook ad deadlines are quickly approaching.

Senior Sessions are fun and relaxed. They usually take about an hour and a half. To get the best light, sessions are scheduled from about 6:00-7:30 pm until daylight saving time ends. After Nov. 3, they are usually scheduled from 5:00-6:30 pm. I have lots of good location ideas in Tallahassee, Thomasville, and the surrounding area if you don’t have something in mind. Each session is special, capturing the unique personality of every senior.
