What a treat it was to photograph Kayla and Nevan’s beautiful wedding on February 3, 2024!
I teach photography at Thomas University, and Nevan was my student a couple of years ago. He was a very talented and creative photographer. He is also one of the nicest and most genuine people I have had the pleasure of knowing. I was so excited when he called me back in July 2023 and told me about his plans to propose to Kayla. He popped the question as the sun was setting on a beautiful evening at St. Mark’s Wildlife Refuge after a romantic dinner. After getting to know Kayla over the past year, I can say she is a perfect match for Nevan. She is just as sweet and special as he is. They share a strong faith, thoughtfulness, kindness, and deep love of family and for each other. They were married at the Homestead Barn in Monticello on a beautiful sunny day. I am so happy I could be a part of it, and I am so happy Nevan and Kayla found each other.

I have absolutely loved capturing baby Sawyer’s first year! It is such an honor to capture these wonderful moments with young families. St. Marks Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places on earth. I love spending time there, walking and riding bikes on the trails, bird watching, enjoying nature, and catching amazing sunsets.
So I was so happy when Shana and Clinton, who are new Kris Kimel Photography Baby Plan clients, jumped at my suggestion of shooting their maternity session at the Refuge. On a beautiful sunny day in January, we met at the lighthouse and took our time capturing these gorgeous images. This was my first time meeting Shana and Clinton, and loved getting to know them as we walked the beautiful beach of the Refuge and snapped images of this exciting time in their lives. This one was really special. Will is the son of a dear friend of mine, and I’ve known him since he was in middle school. He has grown into such an impressive young man! I was so excited for him when he announced his engagement to Hannah, and I was absolutely thrilled when he asked me to photograph their engagement portraits. I was so honored.
Hannah and Will met while they were both students at FSU. It’s where their love story began and is a very special place to both of them, so it was fitting that we took their engagement portraits on FSU’s beautiful campus.
As we walked around campus on a beautiful fall afternoon, stopping often to photograph the happy couple on the gorgeously landscaped campus, I got to know Hannah and thought of what a perfect match she is for Will. They are such accomplished, smart, kind young people. They told me excitedly about their plans for the future. I am so happy for them and so proud to have been able to capture these beautiful images of this exciting part of their lives.
